+ Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment is necessary when the soft pulp inside the tooth, which contains nerves and blood vessels, becomes infected, leading to pain and swelling. To relieve discomfort and prevent the infection from spreading, we carefully remove the infected pulp, preserving your tooth and preventing the need for extraction.

Why Should I See An Endodontist?
While many general dentists can perform root canal treatments, they may not have the specialized expertise required for complex or challenging cases. Endodontists, however, are experts in saving teeth through root canal therapy, having undergone advanced training to handle even the most difficult procedures.
At SmileBay Specialist Centre, our skilled endodontists combine their in-depth knowledge with the latest advanced technology and techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes. Whether your case is routine or more intricate, our team is dedicated to providing precise, effective care to preserve your natural tooth and relieve discomfort.

+ Our Treatments
01
Root Canal Treatment
A root canal treatment is a dental procedure to remove inflamed or infected pulp on the inside of the tooth which is then carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth.

02
Root Canal Retreatment & Revision
When a previously treated tooth doesn’t heal properly, retreatment may be needed. The endodontist will reopen the tooth, remove the old filling, clean and reshape the canals, then refill and seal them temporarily. A permanent restoration, often a crown, is then placed to protect and restore the tooth’s function.

03
Endodontic Microsurgery
Endodontic surgery can reveal hidden canals or fractures missed on X-rays and treat calcium buildup, damaged roots, or surrounding bone issues. With modern tools like digital imaging and microscopes, these procedures are efficient and comfortable. The most common type is an apicoectomy, done when infection or inflammation remains after a root canal.

04
Vital Pulp Theraphy
Vital pulp therapy (VPT) techniques are means of preserving the vitality and function of the dental pulp after injury resulting from trauma, caries, or restorative procedures. VPT procedures have traditionally included indirect or direct pulp capping, and partial or complete pulpotomy

+ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Root Canal Treatment Explained
Is a root canal treatment painful?
Endodontic treatments are designed to relieve toothache caused by inflamed or infected pulp. With modern techniques and anesthetics, most patients feel comfortable during the procedure. Mild sensitivity is common for a few days afterward, especially if there was pain or infection beforehand. Over-the-counter pain relievers like Advil® or Tylenol® usually help, though your endodontist may prescribe medication if needed. Be sure to follow their instructions. Your tooth may feel slightly different for a while, but if you experience pressure or pain lasting more than a few days, contact your endodontist.
Can a root canal tooth last forever?
A root-treated tooth can last for many years, sometimes even decades, but it is not guaranteed to last forever. Its long-term success depends on several factors, including the complexity of the tooth’s root anatomy, how well the canals can be cleaned and sealed, and the quality of the final restoration (often a crown). Good oral hygiene, regular dental visits, and avoiding habits like grinding also play an important role. Even with ideal treatment, some teeth may still develop fractures, new decay, or reinfection over time due to anatomical challenges. In short: with proper care, a root-treated tooth can last a long time, but longevity varies from tooth to tooth.
What are the post-operative care after root canal treatment?
After a root canal, it’s normal to have mild soreness for a few days, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until it receives its final restoration, keep the area clean with gentle brushing and flossing, and take any prescribed medications as directed. If pain worsens, swelling develops, or discomfort lasts more than a few days, contact your dentist. Regular follow-up is important to ensure the tooth heals properly and is fully protected.
Some holistic practitioners claimed that root canal treatment is dangerous. Is it true?
No. Root canal treatment is a safe, well-researched dental procedure supported by decades of scientific evidence. Claims that it is “dangerous” or that it leaves “toxins” in the body come from outdated theories that have long been disproven. Modern endodontic techniques thoroughly clean and disinfect the canals, and the procedure is designed to remove infection — not cause it. Like any medical treatment, root canals can occasionally fail due to complex anatomy or new decay, but when properly performed and restored, they are a safe and effective way to save a natural tooth.
